Once upon a time, there was an angry habanero. His name was Harry. From a young age he’d dream of one day being picked from his pepper plant with intent of burning up someone’s mouth, but the plant that he was growing from belonged to a chemist, and a mentally deranged one at that. He would always get his hands on unstable chemicals and experiment with dangerous mixtures and also experimented with hot peppers in his free time.

The scientist attempted to crossbreed different types of peppers and ran various tests on them. He would attempt to genetically modify peppers for size and heat content.

Harry would see his family be picked and experimented with, one by one, being cut open, harvested for seeds and being forced to participate in unusual experiments. His family was being terrorized. Hearing the screams of his parents, Harrah and Harold, and his brother, Henry, while they were being harvested for their seeds was truly traumatizing for young Harry. Nobody would hear their screams. Nobody there to save them from being part of a mad scientist’s experiment. Harry was determined to seek justice. One day there was an earthquake that really shook up the laboratory. Lights flickering, loud bangs, wood cracking and shelves full of harmful chemicals in glass tubes and beakers started shaking until ultimately falling and shattering. The chemist got trapped under a bookcase that fell on him.

Harry was scared and all alone, being the last pepper left on the plant. He was stuck on the counter right below the shelf that all the chemicals were falling from. Harry thought he’d be a goner as a glass of chemical mixture was about to fall right on top of him. It was in that moment something amazing had happened. Harry avoided being hit by the glass but something strange was happening to him. He started to quiver and shake uncontrollably with sweat pulsating out of his green pepper skin. The glass missed him and he was covered in a mixture of chemicals.

Physical change from some kind of chemical reaction started to happen. He was finally turning orange! shortly after, he unexpectedly started growing arms and legs and sprouted up to five feet tall! Harry was breathing heavily and was confused about what was happening. With sensations of burning up inside, Harry’s heavy breathing came out as a line of fire when exhaling. The chemist, in shock, couldn’t believe what he had seen as he was still trapped under the bookcase. Then all of a sudden, Harry’s pain stopped. He felt stronger and had control of his breathing. Millions of thoughts filled his mind like never before. He knew what he wanted and needed to do. Harry with his new limbs, height and powers broke out of the laboratory and escaped! The laboratory was burned to the ground and the chemist was never seen again. Harry went into hiding in the woods because he knew everyone would freak out seeing a walking, fire-breathing pepper. He settled down in the woods down by the harbor, where he decided to use some of his own seeds to grow peppers, along with some other seeds he’d taken from the lab. The legend goes that Harbor Heat’s peppers come from the seeds that “Harbor Harry” the Habanero planted. Most people say Harry’s story is just a myth. Others say he’s still out there, remaining silent and stealthily inconspicuous, going from place to place, planting hot peppers in the hope of burning the mouths of people all over the country!
